Description:

This is a proof of concept demo of running a 3D Godot project on a GameShell.

The main focus is the GameShell and other retro handhelds in the near future, such as R36S and other RK3326 based devices. Other binaries are exported as a reference if you just want to check it out.

Controls (GameShell as per here):

  • D-pad - Movement
  • A - Jump
  • X - Shoot
  • Y - Switch scenes
  • LK1/LK2 - Look left/right
  • Menu - Quit

Controls (Desktop/Web):

  • WASD - Movement
  • Space - Jump
  • Shift/Up Arrow- Shoot
  • I - Switch scenes
  • Left/Right Arrows - Look left/right
  • Escape - Quit

Goals:

The goal of the project is to inspire and be inspired, create a community around this challenge find optimal settings, tools, techniques etc. and document it in a format that can help others create games for retro handhelds using the Godot engine. By no means is this a game, yet. A github project will be setup shortly in order to share findings and report issues.

Yo this is PaerGaben from the gameshell forums. I know it's been a while but I finally got it to work and i gotta say I am impressed and inspired.

That’s awesome, that was the whole point of the project!
